Portland Rose Garden
Portland's International Rose Garden is the oldest official, public rose garden in the United States. It has about 10,000 rose plants and hence provides an endless opportuniy for a flower photographer.
The rule of thumb when it comes to flower photography is to shoot during overcast days. While that is true, it is not always practical to expect the ideal weather when you visit different places in a limited time frame. So, we thought we should overcome that limitation. The day was bright and sunny when we visited the Rose garden. We mainly worked on Macro while using Flash. All the photos here were taken outdoors in the bright sun. We also used soft-focus filters on some and deliberately used manual focus on other shots. The results turned out better than we expected!
